A massive CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who took part inour UKADance exam diet! The results were outstanding once again! These 2 were still with me when the results came in and their smiles say it all! So proud of every single one of our DSA exam candidates.

We celebrate our amazing Dance St Andrews pupil Kayla C, who has successfully been accepted to study a 2-year HND at Nardone’s College of Performing Arts in Edinburgh! 🎭✨

We will be so sad to say goodbye in summer, but we are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to follow your performance journey.

Our amazing Eleanor has attained her teaching qualifications in Ballet and Jazz with UKA Dance . As well as performing with us whenever she can, Eleanor tirelessly helps out at DSA whenever she is home from Edinburgh University where she is studying Maths. She is an inspiration to all our dancers as she combines her academic strengths with her continued love of dance and now, her professional qualifications. Eleanor is ever popular with our pupils from the youngest to the oldest and we are so proud of you and all that you continue to achieve

We are super-proud of our senior dancer, Kayla, who appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe this year as part of the Nardone's Academy Of Performing Arts - Fife performance of Alice in Wonderland. What a marvelous opportunity, Kayla, and we are delighted to share your success with the friends and families of DSA too

We were super excited to welcome Ella Grace Worraker to DSA last term! Ella Grace has been dancing for 16 years with a primary focus in classical ballet. Throughout her years of training, she attended various summer intensive programs at leading ballet companies, including the Royal Ballet School and American Ballet Theatre.

Dance St Andrews is delighted to welcome the fabulous Ruthie Giovas to our team. Ruthie has over 15 years of experience in dance and is trained in classical ballet (RAD, Cecchetti, Vaganova), Pas-de-Deux, Spanish, Russian Character, Contemporary (Cunningham and Martha Graham) and Jazz. She completed her full time (pre-professional) training under Hilary Kaplan and Archibald McKenzie at Alegria Dance Studios (Australia), before continuing her studies at Joffrey Ballet School (NYC). Prior to moving to the UK, Ruthie ran her own ballet and fitness studio (Evexia Studio) and has experience in teaching both children and adults in ballet, pointe, repertoire solos and PBT.

Our little dance school has been featured on That's TV Scotland for our work with care homes (see link below). We regularly perform in care homes and lead classes there. This year we also have a number of residents coming into the Buchanan Theatre to watch our dance show as well as releasing the filmed performance to them. Our care home journey is a link between the dance school and work carried out at University of St Andrews and this began pre-pandemic where, with colleague Maggie, Gayle ran a week of arts activities (including dance) for people living with dementia at the Byre Theatre - best week ever! In their academic roles, Paula and Gayle have now successfully been awarded  funding to explore the benefits of dance for our physiology and wellbeing so watch this space for more academic/ dance link ups😀. We are also proud to have received funding from both University of St Andrews and St Andrews Community Trust to support our care home work which is receiving this attention.

We celebrated with some of our Beginning ballet students who received their UKADance Baby Ted awards for their commitment and hard work this term. Well done everyone - you did a fantastic job! And thank you to your wonderful class assistant Elspeth.

Well done to our amazing Dance St Andrews dancers Charlotte F and Mia M who are currently performing in this year's pantomime Byre Theatre in St Andrews. Both are extremely hard workers and we are very proud of them

Well done to the cutest sailors in St Andrews for an amazing performance today St Andrews Harbour gala. We had a few technical issues and a massive shower of rain but you were all marvelous! Shout out to the amazing Billy Anderson for a wonderful hornpipe too.

Congratulations to Eliza G and Edith G who thought up the themes for our upcoming summer show and were rewarded with show themed goodies! Our themes are weather and holidays and our show will be called Summer Breeze.

9 of our wonderful DSA pupils from Grade 2 and over travelled to Dancebase in Edinburgh to attend a workshop on Swan Lake repertoire from the dancers of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. What an amazing opportunity!

Congratulations to Gabriella D who placed 3rd in solo ballet and 3rd in solo jazz in the age 11-13 category at the recent nationwide Jubilee Dance Competition to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Our dancers have recorded an array of dances for our online review. Well done everyone and we hope to be doing this in person next year!

In our recent e-exams, over 25% of our exams were graded as 'distinction', significantly higher than national average. Exceptional performances in highland and ballet with 67% and 43% distinctions.

Despite everything that 2020 threw at us, our wonderful Alexandra attained her Associate level teaching qualification in ballet earlier this year. She received a glowing report reflecting all of her hard work and we couldn't be more proud!

UKADance produced these lovely Lockdown Loyalty certificates and medals! DSA nominated all of our lovely pupils who have danced with us in so many ways over the last few months. Very well done to each and every one of you, for showing the tenacity to keep going in these unusual times. I hope that you love your beautiful medals and certificates.

On Sunday 15th December, the whole school took part in our Winter Review demonstrating their wide range of dance styles and skills. Well done to all of our wonderful pupils on a fantastically well received show!
