About Dance St Andrews
Dance St Andrews Community Interest Company is a non-profit dance school founded in 2019 by Director Dr Gayle Middleton to promote well-being through dance for all. We aim to make dance accessible and enjoyable for everyone, from the very young to the most senior members of our community. So whether your dream is to grow your performance, or to grow your strength and confidence, Dance St Andrews is the place for you!
We currently offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz, highland and national from pre-school (age 3 and up) to professional. All Dance St Andrews classes are taught at a low staff to student ratio allowing safe development of core technique and focus on the needs of each individual learner.
Dance exams are offered through UKADance but are by no means compulsory. These are aimed at demonstrating achievements in attainable steps; please check out our exams page for more details. We also perform regularly and offer opportunities to perform and to take part in outreach visits to all pupils.
As a social enterprise we have three objectives. These are social change, environmental benefit and economic benefits to our local community. We aim to bring social change by delivering a positive message through dance education and performance: we believe anyone can dance and that there are no physical or age barriers to being a dancer. The skills, confidence and strengths we develop as dancers are attributes that we use to benefit all areas of our lives. We encourage electronic communication to reduce our environmental impact and will hold up-cycling events to reduce the need to always buy new costumes. We bring economic benefits by training the next generation of dance teachers to allow the dance community in St Andrews to thrive for many years to come.
